Monday October 1

It was a bit of a mixed bag back home on the Fluerieu Peninsula over the long weekend. Wind and tides often conspired against any chance of quality surf, but there were ample chances to sneak in a session. If you managed to score one of those little windows of opportunity it was pretty good - not to mention uncrowded. Saturday arvo one such window opened up at The Dump, with near perfect head high conditions with the odd bigger bomb.

Monday offered another tasty little slice at the spot below, and despite a few bumps from light onshores, anyone who got on it for the ninety minutes or so that it fired was pretty stoked. No prizes for guessing the spot… just hope some of the odd camera angles have a few of you scratching your heads. ;)

  1. Cool pics dude! Surfed 4-5ft lighthouse left yesterday after work. Have had a shocking cold the last couple of days, coming good now tho. Hope you’re still keen for crowded yorkes over xmas, but will speak to you before then. My housemate just got a video cam so i’ll try and get some footage over to ya soon. And put my pics up for all the sa nancies to drool over!!! Say g’day to caz and take it easy mate.

  2. cheechiemomma! Cheers matey, how’s the water temp on the surfcoast? Warming up here, crowds are starting to emerge from winter hibernation… and still that bloody Nor-wester won’t quit. I’m sure you know you ain’t missun’ much. Anyway hope the cold gets better soon, and I’m sure Yorkes will be a riot over Chrissie. Couldn’t be more crowded than the reef was tonight LOL. Take it easy buddy… and grab a few at “Afters” for me next time it’s on ;)

  3. Gday old mate, great to see the site still running along smoothly. Loved the Blog on Yorkes, good to see Goud’s win the event in decent surf. Was good to see it all still happening.
Have’nt covered any surfing since 2007 Bells, but had a few images run in a couple mags. Still shooting in Victoria, but fulltime now.
I’ll be over for a couple weeks in December, no doubt I’ll jinx in a flat spell.
    All the best mate.

  4. Heya big fella, how’s tricks?

I’ve seen some of your more recent work, and I must say it’s looking bloody top notch. But still, I bet the spectacle of an AFL grand final can’t possibly compare to shooting guys falling off trying to bust airs in 2 foot crowded seaford!!! ROFL

I never made it to Bells this year… in the week leading up it looked pretty average, and after last year… well jebus… talk about a hard act to follow!

Great to hear it’s going well in Vicco, and lemme know when you are back in town - will find somewhere to go and drink beer and remenisce about the good old days!!!

Cheers for now, catch you in December. :)

  5. Hey dude.
Water is starting to warm up a bit here too, up to around 13.5c now, got rid of the hood a few weeks ago! Had a good weekend of waves, surfing posso’s rivermouth 2-3ft and a left rip bank at back beach 4-5ft. Might be heading over to corsair this arvo but wind and swell are both looking a bit dicey.
I’ve been keeping an eye on ‘afters’ but it needs a massive swell to break, and i haven’t had a swell like last years comp since i’ve been here. Be assured that when it turns on i’ll be there with board and camera! Heaps of better waves tho if it’s working there.
    Speak to ya soon
